Modernist Echoes: From Picasso to West Virginia Opening

Modernist Echoes: From Picasso to West Virginia Opening

Modernist Echoes: From Picasso to West Virginia highlights work from the Juliet Art Museum’s permanent collection, showcasing how Modernism—a movement that revolutionized artistic expression in the 20th century—reshaped the way artists engaged in art making.

From the groundbreaking innovations of Cubist pioneer Pablo Picasso to the influence of Modernism on artists in West Virginia, Modernist Echoes traces these connections and showcases the direct pipeline of influence that shaped the work of numerous West Virginia artists.

Featuring pieces by Pablo Picasso,  Blanche Lazzell, Grace Martin Taylor, and others, the exhibition explores how they interpreted and expanded upon modernist ideas, creating work that reflects both global movements and regional perspectives.

Modernist Echoes: From Picasso to West Virginia is presented with support from the Bernard H. & Blanche E. Jacobson Foundation, Daywood Foundation, Elliot Family Foundation, Fund for the Arts, and Herscher Foundation, Inc.

The Clay Center’s performing and visual arts offerings are presented with financial assistance from the West Virginia Department of Arts, Culture, and History, and the National Endowment for the Arts, with approval from the West Virginia Commission on the Arts.

This exhibit is free with museum admission.
