SUMMARY: The Clay Center seeks a highly organized person who enjoys a public-facing job, is experienced in fund development, possess excellent communication, and is passionate about the Center’s mission to inspire creativity, life-long learning, and wonder through experiences in the arts and sciences for all people of West Virginia and the region. The Sponsorship & Fundraising Events Manager reports to the VP of Development and is responsible for managing all aspects of the sponsorship program which generates underwriting support for the Center’s many art exhibitions, performances, educational programs, and more, as well as successfully planning and executing major fundraising events such as Carnaval, the Center’s annual fundraising gala, and other fundraising, donor cultivation, and development events.


SALARY RANGE:
$58,000 - $61,000

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (four-year college or university) or equivalent experience

  • 2+ years of successful fundraising and/or professional sales experience (fundraising experience preferred; a record of success in securing corporate sponsorship ideal)

  • Specialized knowledge in organizing and managing all logistical aspects of large meetings and/or special events; 2+ years experience preferred

  • Strong knowledge of not-for-profit fundraising strategies and best practices and interest in building skills

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

  • Familiarity with budgeting and revenue tracking

  • Ability to keep the highest levels of confidentiality

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and comfortable learning new technology

  • Experience with The Raiser’s Edge or other fundraising and/or relationship management software strongly preferred.

  • Highly organized

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Team oriented

  • Superior time management skills

Café Attendant

SUMMARY: The full-time attendant plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the Curiosity Café. Responsibilities include assisting the Food Services Manager with various tasks related to food service, customer interactions, and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment. Other duties include stocking, inventory, prepping dining options, managing the cash register, preparing food, as well as other tasks related to the café that might arise. Shifts are primarily scheduled Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5:30 PM, but may also include availability for special events such as Broadway shows, concerts, and symphonies, which can end as late as 9 PM.

PAY: $15.00 per hour

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to articulate well and communicate positively with guests to establish their needs efficiently and courteously.

  • Skill to handle cash responsibly and accurately. Working knowledge of POS systems and/or an eagerness to learn.

  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends.

  • One to two years in a supervisor and/or kitchen role preferred.

  • Experience with a turbo chef and conveyor oven is preferred.

Museum Exhibit Technician

SUMMARY: Responsible for maintenance and upkeep of all Museum and outreach exhibits as well as the installation and disassembling of permanent and temporary exhibits at the Clay Center as a member of the exhibit and outreach team.  Share responsibilities for travelling, installing/deinstalling and maintenance of outreach exhibits throughout the state as needed.

SALARY: $32,000
